Pune, 24th September 2024: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, while addressing a distinguished audience at the “Vibrant Pune” event organized by Punekar News at Residency Club, voiced his concerns about the increasing trend of alcohol consumption and drug abuse among minors and college students. Kumar revealed that his department has received information about a potential fresher’s party on 25th September at Blinque Pub, Viman Nagar, where minors may be served alcohol.

The Commissioner stated that his team is planning a “surgical strike” at the venue, stressing that while the police are not keen on penalizing minors, they will be compelled to take strict action against both the pub and any minors found consuming alcohol.

This move highlights the growing concern over underage drinking and drug abuse among Pune’s youth and aims to set a strong precedent for police enforcement regarding the sale of liquor to minors.
