Shivajinagar, 25th September 2024: The ongoing work on the Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi metro line has gained significant momentum over the past few months, but regular commuters on this route are facing severe disruptions.

Long vehicle queues stretched up to Shivajinagar after the collapse of a safety net on the arch erected for metro construction at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk yesterday (24th September). Today, the lane heading towards Shivajinagar has been diverted from the university entrance to the road coming from Shivajinagar, resulting in heavy traffic congestion in the area.

Traffic from Aundh is now being rerouted from the university entrance to the lane coming from Shivajinagar, causing vehicles from both directions to share the same lane. The situation is further aggravated by the presence of a large number of heavy vehicles, contributing to the increasing congestion.

Hinjawadi IT Park, a key employment hub, is located along this route, as are several IT companies in Balewadi. Employees working in these areas are frustrated by the continuous traffic jams at University Chowk.
