Pune: Goon Granted Anticipatory Bail in Attempt to Murder Case

Pune, 22nd September 2024: The District and Sessions Court, Pune, has granted anticipatory bail to Roaf Gaus Bagwan, a goon accused in an attempt to murder case registered at the Lonikand police station.

Advocate Afroz Shaikh, representing Bagwan, filed for anticipatory bail under Section 482 (438 of Cr.P.C.) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in connection with Crime No. 847/2024, registered at the Lonikand police station, Pune. Bagwan has been charged under Sections 109(1), 61(2), 111, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 3(25) of the Arms Act and Sections 37(1) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, as well as Sections 3 and 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Additional Sessions Judge S.G. Vedpathak granted the bail with the following conditions:
In the event of Bagwan’s arrest in connection with Crime No. 847/2024, he will be released on interim anticipatory bail upon executing a personal bond (P.B.) and surety bond (S.B.) of Rs. 25,000 with one or more sureties of the same amount. The applicant is required to attend the police station for investigation as and when summoned by the investigating officer, upon receiving a written notice.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred around 11:30 pm on August 29th at Pawar Vasti on Kolwadi-Manjari Road. The complainant, Raju Kaulram Shewale, aged 33, was driving when his vehicle was hit by several individuals with whom he had past enmity. A pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the scene, which were allegedly used to threaten Shewale. The FIR was lodged on 4th September, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. Bagwan was previously wanted in connection with the case.
