Pune: ‘Chala Ek Paul Indrayanikade Abhiyan’ Launched by Various Organizations to Depollute Indrayani River After Ganpati Visarjan
Pimpri Chinchwad, 23rd September 2024: On the day of Ganapati Visarjan, many citizens, along with public Ganpati Mandals, immersed idols into the Indrayani River. Plaster of Paris statues were submerged in the already polluted waters.
In response, environmentalists and various organizations dedicated to raising public awareness about river pollution came together to implement the ‘Chala Ek Paul Indrayanikade Abhiyan’ on Sunday, 22nd September, aiming to free the Indrayani River from pollution.
Participants collectively cleaned the river in Moshi, reportedly retrieving hundreds of idols, various photos, and discarded clothing from the riverbed. Vitthal Shinde, president of the Indrayani Seva Foundation, emphasized the importance of a year-round cleanliness campaign to prevent pollution of the Indrayani and Chandrabhaga rivers, especially in light of the upcoming Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s birth anniversary Seventh Centennial Golden Jubilee.
Organizations such as the Indrayani Seva Foundation in Alandi, Green Army in Pimpri, and Indrayani Jalmitra collaborated to clean the river as part of the ‘Chala Ek Paul Indrayanikade Abhiyan’ for Indrayani Pollution Prevention.
Key participants in the campaign included Vitthal Shinde, Prashant Raul, Prakash Jukantwar, Vijay Suryavanshi, Vipul Kasar, Sandeep Sharma, Harish Kulkarni, Rajesh Bhat, Hari Iyer, Jaising Bhat, Gautam Kamble, Srikant Sawant, Somnath More, Vinayak Limkar, Santosh Madar, Nitin Gaikwad, Sachin Parulekar, Rabindra Jha, Rajesh Palve, Prakash Chakranarayan, Prashant Kulkarni, and others.
