Pune Engineers’ Day Event Showcases Innovation and Sustainability

Pune, 22nd September 2024: Engineers’ Day was celebrated enthusiastically across the country in honor of the great engineer Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. To mark the occasion, a special program titled ‘Pradyogiki: Sustainability’ was organized by the Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti. The event aimed to celebrate innovations, collaboration, and outstanding contributions in the engineering field, with a focus on sustainability through technology.

The two-day celebration featured a variety of activities, including a hackathon, innovation fair, entrepreneurship competition, educational games, a poster competition, a discussion on ‘Alasi Engineer,’ and storytelling sessions.

Shailendra Chavan, Senior Manager at Bharat Forge, served as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Avinash Kumar Tiwari, Tech Lead at Roche Digital Center of Excellence; Manmohan Bhumkar, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Chandrashekhar Talathi, CEO of the Foundation for Make It Happen – Center for Innovation, Invention, and Incubation (FMCIII); Nathaji Shelke, Founder of Helix Integrated Learning; engineer Vivek Salwaru; Rahul Chaudhary from Micropoint Computers; and Deepak Narkhede, along with experts in AI, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things.

In the competitions held as part of the Engineers’ Day celebrations, the winners of the mock placement event were Rajkanya Patil (first), Vaishnavi Lashkare (second), and Prathamesh Kate (third). In the hackathon, the top prizes went to Vaibhav Kale (first), Dnyaneshwari Thorve (second), and Tanvi Gholap (third). In the innovation fair and entrepreneurship categories, Prasad Kakade (first), Tanmay Bamdale (second), and Pallavi Shinde (third) took top honors. For the poster presentation competition, Vaishnavi Biradar (first), Shivani Deshmukh (second), and Vaishnavi Harle (third) were the winners.

The event was organized under the guidance of Managing Trustee Tushar Ranjankar, with support from Trustee Ratnakar Mate, President of Vidyarthi Vikas Kendra Prabhakar Patil, and former student and Engineering Club Head Sunil Chore. Former students Prof. Sachin Jaybhaye and Ganesh Chavan, along with Engineering Club Coordinator Akash Dubey and Club Heads Sashwati Kulkarni (Sumitrakutir), Anshu Kumari (Dr. Apte Hostel), and Rohit Gore (Lajpat Rai Student Hall), worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the program.
