Pune: Fallen Tree Branch Claims Life At Junnar Court

Junnar, 21st September 2024: A large branch of an old banyan tree suddenly fell in the court area, resulting in one death. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Friday, September 20.

The deceased has been identified as Chandrakant Kisan Hande (54) from Umbraj Number Two, Taluka Junnar, who was accompanying his sisters for court work.

At the time of the incident, lawyers and citizens present at the spot removed the tree branch from Hande’s body. Medical officer Dr. Dilip Kokate stated that he had died before treatment could be administered.

Hande is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. The Junnar police have registered a case of sudden death.

Meanwhile, a few days prior, lawyers and court employees had urged the Public Works Department to remove unnecessary branches from this tree. The unfortunate incident has been attributed to the department’s neglect.

In a related incident, a laborer suffered a broken leg when a tree branch fell on a shop in a vegetable market a few days ago.
