Pune FDA Takes Action Against Food Adulteration, Seizing Goods Worth Over Rs 14 Lakhs

Pune, 21st September 2024: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Pune Office conducted 101 inspections of food establishments in the Pune Division during the Ganeshotsav period. A total of 117 samples, including milk, khawa, paneer, sweet mawa/khoya, ghee, butter, and savory snacks, were collected for examination. In Pune city alone, items worth ₹9,19,520 were seized, while the total seizure across Pune district and division amounted to ₹14,35,958.

Upon receiving the analysis report of the seized samples, the administration took appropriate legal action. Food items were raided and confiscated on suspicion of adulteration. During this period, the Pune office seized a total stock of food items, including cow ghee, adulterated butter, sweet khoya, and other goods worth over ₹5.16 lakh.

The relevant actions were executed by all Assistant Commissioners and Food Safety Officers under the guidance of the Joint Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, Pune, as well as the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Mumbai.
