Airspace Ban Announced for PM Modi’s Pune Visit on 26th and 27th September

Pune, 18th September 2024: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will be visiting Pune and Maharashtra on 26th and 27th September. Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has issued orders banning private airspace activities, such as paragliding, hot air balloon safaris, drones, and microlight airplanes, from 12 AM on 26th September to 12 PM on 27th September. These orders apply to the Pune City Police Commissionerate, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and Pune Rural Police Force jurisdictions. The order also specifies that legal action will be taken against those violating these restrictions under BNS Section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

The Shivajinagar-Swargate route of the Pune Metro has been completed, and the route from Swargate to Katraj has been approved. Prime Minister Narednra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate both the underground route and the new route on 27th September. Sources have mentioned that a meeting will be held at the Sir Parashurambhau College (SP College) grounds of Shikshan Prasarak Mandali. This visit will coincide with the inauguration of the Metro and development works by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
