Hinjawadi, 18th September 2024: Suspecting his wife of having an immoral relationship with another man, a man murdered the suspected individual. After the murder, while returning to his native place in Bihar, the accused was arrested. He had slit the man’s throat to kill him. The incident occurred near Bavdhan Police Chowki, and Pimpri Chinchwad Police arrested two men from Thane District within three hours of the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Pravin Kumar Mahto (25), a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Hinjawadi Police arrested Rajeev Kumar Singh (33) and Dheeraj Kumar Ramod Singh (20), both residents of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. A case under BNS Section 103(1) (punishment for murder) and 3(5) (acts done by several individuals in furtherance of common intention) has been registered against them.

According to police reports, Hinjawadi Police received a call reporting that a person was found dead near Bavdhan Police Chowki with his throat slit. It was determined that the deceased was killed by having his throat cut while he was asleep. Pravin held a contract for gardening with a large company, prompting an initial investigation into whether a business dispute was behind the murder, but nothing was found.

Further investigation into Pravin’s personal relationships revealed information about Rajeev Kumar. Police conducted a technical investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and patrolling railway stations. It was discovered that the accused were attempting to flee. Both men were located in Thane District and were immediately detained.

Rajeev Kumar suspected that his wife and Pravin Mahto were involved in an immoral relationship. Consequently, he and his accomplice planned to murder Pravin. Preliminary investigations revealed that Pravin was killed while sleeping. After the murder, Rajeev Kumar and Dheeraj Kumar were preparing to flee to Bihar via Manpada near Thane. Upon receiving this information, Hinjawadi Police went to Manpada and arrested both men.

Rajeev Kumar had come to Pune from Bihar with the intent to kill Pravin. He involved an accomplice and carried out the murder due to his suspicion of an affair between Pravin and his wife. Rajeev Kumar had suspected the relationship for the past four years, and the two had argued over it. Last month, some photos of Pravin and Rajeev Kumar’s wife circulated on social media, which intensified Rajeev’s suspicions. As a result, he came to Pune and committed the murder. Hinjawadi Police are continuing their investigation.
