Pune: Immediate Medical Assistance Available During Ganpati Immersion Procession

Pune, 17th September 2024: Immediate medical assistance will be available during the Ganpati immersion procession in case of emergencies. The Health Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in collaboration with the Public Health Department, has set up measures to provide quick care and treatment. Medical teams, along with ambulances, will be deployed at key locations during the two-day immersion procession.

These teams will be stationed at Deccan Gymkhana and Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya on Laxmi Road on Tuesday (17th September) and Wednesday (18th September). The teams include doctors, medical staff, and nurses. Additionally, Pune Police’s Vighnaharta Nyas Foundation will provide medical services during the event.

Emergency medical assistance teams will be available at Belbag Chowk, Tilak Chowk, SP College, Puram Chowk, Gokhale Hall, Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, and Kelkar Road. The Modern Vikas Sanstha will provide services at Vijay Talkies Chowk on Laxmi Road. A total of 23 ambulances from the Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services Department and Bharat Vikas Group (BVG), under the No. 108 service, will also be deployed.

For the first time this year, a three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been set up at Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Mandir by the PMC Health Department for Ganeshotsav. This 24-hour facility is staffed with an anaesthetist, three medical officers, a pharmacist, and a nurse, and will remain operational during the immersion procession.

The Health Department has issued the following guidelines for the procession:

– Noise levels should not exceed 75 decibels.
– A distance of 40-50 feet should be maintained between processional teams.
– The use of laser lights is strictly prohibited.
– Sound systems should not be installed near hospitals or old age homes.
– Ambulances should be given priority during the procession.
