Passenger’s Vigilance Leads to Arrest of Fake Ticket Collector on Pune-Danapur Express

Daund, 10th September 2024: A young man has been arrested for impersonating a Ticket Collector (TC) and extorting money from passengers on the Pune-Danapur (Bihar) Express. The incident was uncovered thanks to the vigilance of a passenger.

On Sunday, September 8, after the Pune-Danapur Express departed from Pune station, a young man dressed in regular clothes pretended to be a TC in a general compartment. He demanded money from passengers under the pretense of checking their tickets.

The suspicious behavior was noticed by a passenger, who promptly reported it to the railway police when the train arrived at Daund Chord Line railway station. The police acted swiftly, detaining the individual from the train compartment. It was revealed that the man did not possess any identification cards and provided vague answers when questioned.

The suspect has been identified as Dinanath Shivshankar Sah (37), a resident of Deccan, Pune, and originally from Poreyahat, District Godda, Jharkhand. Following a complaint by Mohammad Rafiq, a passenger, a case was filed against Dinanath Sah for impersonation and fraud. He was subsequently produced in court and has been sent to Yerwada Central Jail.

The operation was carried out by Sub Inspector Ganesh Dabde, Constable Anand Waghmare, Rupesh Salunke, Manoj Salve, Constable Sachin Khandagale, and Narendra Pawar, under the guidance of Police Inspector Rajendra Gaikwad of Daund Railway Station.
