Pune – The Pune district court Special Judge J T Utpat on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory (pre-arrest) bail application of developer D S Kulkarni (68) and his wife Hemanti (58). About 1500 people have approached Pune city police claiming that they have been duped by the builder for over Rs 50 crores.

On October 28, an FIR was registered with the Shivajinagar police station against Kulkarni and his wife for cheating and criminal breach of trust of the Indian Penal Code and offences under Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune police Crime Branch is investigating the case.

In the court, Kulkarni submitted that a false complaint has been filed against him and his wife due to misunderstanding. All depositors will get refund by March 2018, the plea stated.
