Purandar, 2nd September 2024: The issue of Purandar airport has been pending for some time now, as it has been discussed many times whether there will be an airport or not. The government has decided to build this airport on the old site. Based on a report by Pudhari, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol gave the information.

On this occasion, he informed that the proposed airport in Purandar will be built on the original site, which has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. A meeting of all agencies, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Airports Authority of India, and the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), will be held in the next few days. He said that the place will be inspected together.

Mohol further informed that the process of land acquisition for the airport will also be started. A proposal regarding Purandar Airport was sent by Maharashtra Airport Development Company to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2018. The old site for the Purandar airport was decided during the Mahayuti government. At that time, the airport proposal was also approved.

However, in 2021, due to changes in power and government, technical difficulties had arisen. Mohol said that this proposal has been stalled. After that, the Mahayuti government again sent the original proposal in 2023. Mohol said that according to this proposal, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has approved the construction of the airport at the original place.
