Pune: Campaign for Sushma Andhare’s Candidacy Heats Up in Wadgaon Sheri Ahead of Elections
Wadgaon Sheri, 31st August 2024: In the political developments surrounding the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, a new twist has emerged as boards demanding that Sushma Andhare be given a candidacy from Pune’s Wadgaon Sheri Assembly have been erected. Andhare, a spokesperson for Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), has a strong following. The boards read, “Highly educated, fearless, tough personality, the single best option for the overall development of Wadgaon Sheri Constituency.”
Due to this publicity, Sushma Andhare is likely to contest the elections in the Wadgaon Sheri Constituency. Additionally, she resides in the Dhanori area, which is part of the same constituency. Among the eight assembly constituencies in Pune, many Shiv Sainiks have expressed hope that Hadapsar, Wadgaon Sheri, and Kothrud will be allocated to the Uddhav Sena during the Mahavikas Aghadi seat-sharing discussions. It remains to be seen whether women will be given a chance to contest from Pune through the Mahavikas Aghadi.
Regarding this campaign, Thackeray group’s Pune City Deputy Head, Anand Goyal, said that Shiv Sena (UBT) has significant influence in Pune City and District. As a result, all office bearers and activists are demanding that the party allow Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare to contest from Wadgaon Sheri in the upcoming Legislative Assembly Elections. In the last year and a half, Sushma Andhare has worked on several key issues, including the Sassoon General Hospital drug case and the Kalyani Nagar accident. Therefore, considering the overall situation, the party leadership is calling for her nomination. Goyal expressed confidence that Sushma Andhare will be elected with a large number of votes in this election.
