Pune: 15-Year-Old Girl Raped by Man, Classmate Accused of Assisting; Incident Revealed After Victim Became Pregnant

Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th August 2024: A 15-year-old girl was raped in Pimpri Chinchwad. The 15-year-old classmate of the victim assisted the accused in committing this crime. The victim was threatened with death if she told anyone. She didn’t disclose the incident, but after two months, when she became pregnant, it came to light. This incident occurred between 5th July and 9th August, with the sexual assault taking place at Durga Tekdi, a well-known tourist spot in the Pimpri Chinchwad area.

A 35-year-old mother of the victim has filed a complaint at Nigdi Police Station. A case has been registered against Saleem (age 22 to 25) and a 15-year-old girl. Charges include BNS Sections 137 (kidnapping), 65 (punishment for rape in certain cases), 64 (punishment for rape), 63 (rape), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 96 (procuration of a child), as well as relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012 and The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989 (POA Act).

According to police reports, while the victim was alone at home, the accused, Saleem, arrived and threatened her, saying, “Come to Durga Tekdi with me, or else I’ll finish your family by killing them.” He forcefully took her to Durga Tekdi, where a classmate of the victim was waiting some distance away. At that time, Saleem raped the minor victim three times. Additionally, a 15-year-old classmate pressured the victim to comply. Saleem threatened to strangle the victim if she told anyone about the incident, so the girl remained silent. The matter came to light after the girl discovered she was two months pregnant. Assistant Police Inspector Kadam from the Nigdi Police Station is investigating the case further.

Attempted Kidnapping of 10-Year-Old in Khed Taluka

A 10-year-old girl was harassed and almost kidnapped while returning home after dropping off a friend. The accused attempted to forcefully make her sit on his two-wheeler to take her elsewhere and behaved inappropriately with her. The accused, Prasad Dnyaneshwar Kumbhar (resident of Kalewadi; native of Purandar), has been arrested. The victim’s 30-year-old mother filed a complaint at Mahalunge MIDC Police Station.
