Pune Police Seize Pistol and Live Cartridge from Wanted Criminal

Pune, 29th August 2024: The Anti-Extortion Squad of Pune Police has seized a pistol and a live cartridge from a wanted criminal in Pune. Four serious crimes have been registered against this accused under the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerates. He was arrested on 26 August in Karve Nagar.

The wanted individual is Rutik Kailas Ekhande (age 23, resident of Erandwane). A case was registered against him at Faraskhana Police Station under relevant sections of the Arms Act of 1959, which led to his arrest.

According to Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, Police Constables Rajendra Landge and Mayur Bhokare from the Anti-Extortion Squad received information that Ekhande was expected to arrive in Karve Nagar. He was arrested after falling into a trap set by the police. During interrogation, it was confirmed that he was the wanted criminal, and a pistol and live cartridge worth Rs 35,100 were confiscated from him. In addition to the case at Faraskhana Police Station, Ekhande is also wanted in connection with four serious crimes, including murder and attempt to murder, registered at Kothrud, Uttam Nagar, Deccan Gymkhana, and Hinjawadi Police Stations.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ganesh Ingale. The Anti-Extortion 1 team, led by Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, included Assistant Police Inspectors Vijaykumar Shinde and Abhijeet Patil, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Dhamal, and Police Constables Sayaji Chavan, Ravindra Phulpagare, Amol Awad, Nitin Kamble, Duryodhan Gurav, Prafulla Chavan, Rajendra Landge, Mayur Bhokare, Amar Pawar, Geetanjali Jambhulkar, and Ankush Bhise.
