Wagholi, 29th August 2024: A disturbing incident in Tulapur on Tuesday afternoon led to the Pune city police registering a case of voyeurism against a local priest. The priest allegedly attempted to secretly film a 29-year-old homemaker on his cellphone while she was changing clothes in a room.

According to Lonikand police station officials, the woman, her husband, and her brother-in-law, all residents of Wagholi, had hired the priest to perform rituals at the Triveni Sangam in Tulapur.

“Following the rituals, the priest advised the family to bathe in the river and change clothes in a nearby room. Unbeknownst to them, the priest had placed his cellphone among their luggage in the room, with the video recorder turned on to capture footage of the woman while she was changing,” explained a police officer familiar with the case.

The woman noticed the mobile phone while changing and immediately raised an alarm. She alerted her husband, and the couple then inspected the phone. Realizing what had happened, they promptly went to the Lonikand police station to file a complaint.

“We have seized the phone and have issued a notice to the priest, instructing him to cooperate with our investigation as needed,” the officer added.
