Pune, 27th August 2024: Pune’s own ten-year-old skating sensation, Vardaan Laddha, has made Maharashtra proud by clinching a silver medal in the under-8 to 11 age group at the 19th National Speed Ice-Skating Championship, held on August 17, 2024, in Gurugram, Haryana. The championship, organized by the Ice Skating Association of India under the ISU (International Skating Union), was marked by the presence of several Indian Olympic athletes who were there to support and inspire the young participants.

Despite having only 1.5 years of experience on ice, Vardaan emerged as the sole skater from Maharashtra in his age group to secure a spot on the podium. His accomplishment in ice skating adds to an already impressive record of achievements, including multiple gold medals at various state and national skating events over the past 2.5 years. Vardaan’s success is driven by a disciplined daily routine, beginning with 4 AM practice sessions focused on skating and fitness.

In addition to his athletic endeavors, Vardaan’s holistic education at Swadha Learning Centre, which follows the Waldorf philosophy, ensures that he excels academically while also exploring music and sustainable living practices.

His parents, Saurabh Laddha and Pranita Gawande Laddha, are fully supportive of Vardaan’s dream to represent India on the international stage. Guided by his coaches from Youngster’s Skating Club in Pune, Vardaan’s journey exemplifies the power of dedication, hard work, and passion for the sport.
