New Delhi, 27th August 2024: The Aadhaar Card is an essential document that needs to be updated periodically. Generally, when updating Aadhaar, certain documents are required. However, if you are updating your home address, you can do so without providing any documents. Let’s understand the process.

When someone asks for ID proof, our first thought often goes to the Aadhaar Card. Today, both governmental and non-governmental tasks require us to present our Aadhaar Card. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that all information is accurate.

The Aadhaar Card contains details such as your name, date of birth, and home address. If you are changing your home, it is important to update your address in your Aadhaar Card as soon as possible to avoid any issues later. While updating any details in the Aadhaar Card usually requires some documents, updating your address can be done without any documentation.

How to Update Your Address

1. First, visit the official UIDAI portal (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/).
2. Click on the login option and enter your Aadhaar number and the CAPTCHA.
3. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
4. Go to the Aadhaar update section and click on Head of Family (HOF) based Aadhaar update.
5. Enter the Aadhaar number of the head of the family.
6. After this, you will need to pay the update fee.
7. Once the update fee is paid, a request will be sent to the head of the family.
8. As soon as the head of the family allows this request, your Aadhaar Card will be updated.

Free Aadhaar Update

UIDAI has also provided Aadhaar users with the facility to update their Aadhaar information online for free until September 14, 2024. However, if you choose to update your Aadhaar offline, you must pay a charge of ₹50 per update.
