Pune: Female Police Constable Dies by Suicide in Indrayani River, Search Efforts Underway

Alandi, 26th August 2024: A female police constable died by suicide in Pune by jumping into a river. She was a member of the Pune Rural Police Force. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM yesterday on the Indrayani River Bridge in Alandi. The deceased has been identified as Anushka Suhas Kedar, aged 20, a resident of Dighi.

According to Senior Police Inspector Bheema Narke, Anushka Kedar was working with the Pune Rural Police Force and was currently posted at the Pune Rural Headquarters. She jumped into the river from the Garuda pillar near the new bridge over the Indrayani River around 5:30 PM yesterday. As soon as the incident was reported, the Alandi Police rushed to the scene. The search for Anushka Kedar in the river is ongoing. However, due to the heavy rains in recent days, the Indrayani River has swelled significantly, making the search efforts more challenging.
