Yerawada, 21st August 2024: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) commenced operations at the Yerawada Metro Station today. The station will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., as confirmed by officials.

The station’s design pays tribute to the historic Dandi March, reflecting a significant chapter in India’s struggle for independence.

With the opening of the Yerawada Metro Station, Line 2, which connects Vanaz to Ramwadi, is now fully operational. Maha-Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar stated, “We are excited to announce the launch of Yerawada Metro Station, which will enhance public transport options for residents of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.”

Previously, on 6th March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the segment from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi. At that time, one entry-exit point at the Yerawada Metro Station, near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Kalas Dhanori Ward Office, was completed. However, work on the other entry-exit point had to be halted due to complaints from locals about traffic congestion on Ahmednagar Road. The work resumed in February after being paused in November last year.

Yerawada Station is a key stop on the 5.5 km stretch between Ruby Hall Clinic and Ramwadi, addressing the need for a closer station compared to the Bund Garden station, which is half a kilometre away.
