Indrani Balan Foundation Steps Up to Protect Pune’s Historical Monuments

Pune, 19th August 2024: Punit Balan, a young entrepreneur known for his dedication to social causes, has embarked on a significant mission to preserve Pune’s historical heritage. Through the Indrani Balan Foundation, Balan has committed to the upkeep and maintenance of several important historical monuments across the Pune district. An official agreement to this effect was recently signed between the Indrani Balan Foundation and the State Archaeology Department.

The monuments under the foundation’s care include the Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Samadhi at Sinhagad Fort, the Samadhi of Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Vadhu Budruk, the birthplace of Martyr Shivram Hari Rajguru at Rajguru Nagar, and the Mahadev Mandir at Tulapur.

These state-protected sites attract thousands of visitors each year, especially during public holidays. Recognizing the public’s deep connection to these sites, Punit Balan offered to oversee their daily upkeep and maintenance. His proposal received prompt approval from Vilas Wahane, Assistant Director of the State Archaeology Department.

As part of this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Indrani Balan Foundation will deploy seven security guards across these sites to ensure their protection. Additionally, the foundation will handle the daily cleaning, maintenance, and regular inspections of the surrounding areas of these historic locations.

Dr. Vilas Wahane praised Balan’s efforts, stating, “We deeply appreciate Punit Balan’s initiative in taking on the responsibility of maintaining these four protected monuments under the CSR scheme. It’s commendable to see individuals contributing to the upkeep of state-protected sites. This initiative will play a crucial role in preserving the cleanliness and integrity of these historical monuments. We hope others will follow this example and contribute to the preservation of our heritage.”

Punit Balan emphasized the importance of this project, saying, “Maharashtra is steeped in the legacy of great leaders, and their monuments continue to inspire future generations. Many of these significant sites are located in and around Pune, and it is vital to maintain them properly. In the spirit of preserving the sanctity of these monuments, we have taken on the responsibility for their safety and cleanliness through this CSR initiative.”
