Rahul Gandhi to Present His Side in Pune Court Today on Remarks Against Veer Savarkar

Pune, 19th August 2024: For making controversial statements about Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, also known as Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has been summoned to the Pune District Court in Shivajinagar today. The court has directed him to present his side of the story.

During a meeting with Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in London, Rahul Gandhi made a controversial remark about Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. In response, Savarkar’s grandson, Satyaki Savarkar, filed a criminal defamation suit in the court of First Class Magistrate Akshi Jain in Pune. Magistrate Jain ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and instructed the Vishrambaug Police to submit a report. The court had also issued a notice due to the delay in filing the report.

Following this, the police confirmed that Satyaki Savarkar’s complaint was valid. After that, the court ordered Gandhi to appear today, 19th August, to present his opinion on the matter.
