Kia to announce new electric SUV in October, likely the EV9
Pune, 12th August 2024: Kia Motors is preparing for a significant announcement in October 2024, expected to introduce a new electric vehicle to the Indian market. Reports suggest that the vehicle may be the Kia EV9, an electric SUV that was showcased at the Auto Expo in January 2023. This launch is likely to occur during the festive season, and the EV9 is expected to bring advanced features and impressive specifications to the Indian market.
According to sources, Kia’s EV9 is already available in select international markets, including the United States. The EV9, which seats seven passengers, is offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. It is powered by battery capacities of 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh, allowing a range of up to 541 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, its battery can gain 239 kilometers of range with just 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle comes equipped with a highway driving pilot system, Level-3 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), 19 to 21-inch tires, vertical headlamps, star map LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), and various luxury features like push-button start, tri-zone climate control, and dual sunroof.
Performance-wise, the Kia EV9 offers two motor options: a 150 kW motor generating 350 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.4 seconds, and a more powerful dual motor setup in the all-wheel drive variant that delivers 283 kW and 600 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 kilometers per hour acceleration in just six seconds.
