Pune: Two Men Severely Beaten Over Alleged Eye Contact in Hinjawadi; Case Registered

Hinjawadi, 14th August 2024: Two men were brutally assaulted with sticks by three individuals in Hinjawadi, allegedly for merely looking at them. The incident took place on Monday, 12th August, at 8:30 PM, leading to a case being registered with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police based on a complaint from a 21-year-old woman.

The case has been filed under Sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 351 (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), and Section 3 (general explanations) against Rohan Kalekar (24) and his two unidentified associates.

According to police reports, the victims, Gaurav Solanke (the complainant’s brother) and his friend Ganesh Surve, were having tea at Pancharatna Chowk in Hinjawadi when the incident occurred. Rohan allegedly collided with Gaurav, who then looked at him. Enraged by this, Rohan attacked Gaurav, demanding, “Why are you looking at me?”

Rohan’s two friends joined in the assault, beating Gaurav and Ganesh with sticks and verbally abusing them. As they left, the trio threatened not to spare the victims. Police Sub Inspector Thakare from Hinjawadi Police Station is leading the investigation.
