Pune: Leopard Spotted on College Campus in Lohgaon, Authorities Begin Search
Lohgaon, 12th August 2024: A leopard was sighted on the premises of K.E. Society’s Rajarambapu Institute of Technology Polytechnic (RITP) College, located on Lohgaon-Vadgaon Shinde Road in eastern Pune. Panic ensued as the leopard was noticed on the RITP grounds this morning.
Upon receiving information about the sighting, the Maharashtra Forest Department and the Fire Brigade promptly arrived at the location and initiated a search operation. The RITP campus is densely vegetated, and the Indrayani River runs near Vadgaon Shinde village, leading authorities to believe that the leopard may have entered the college area from the river basin.
Subhash Jadhav, head of the fire brigade, reported that despite an extensive search operation by the Forest Department and fire brigade teams, the leopard has not yet been found.
