Pune: Three Arrested for Vandalizing 19 Vehicles and Threatening Residents in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune, 12th August 2024: In Pimpri Chinchwad, a trio of brothers, including a minor, was arrested yesterday for vandalizing vehicles, threatening individuals, and attacking several people. The incident, which aimed to create terror and extort money, occurred between 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM in Ota Scheme, Nigdi. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police apprehended the suspects, who were intoxicated, after they damaged nineteen vehicles, with estimated damages of around ₹2 lakh.

The complaint was filed by Tejas Ganesh Kamble (24, resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi) at the Nigdi Police Station. The arrested individuals include Amar Singh Rajendra Singh Junni (resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi), Jay Singh Jal Singh Junni (18, resident of Patil Estate, Shivajinagar), and a 16-year-old minor.

A case has been registered under Sections 309 (robbery), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 351 (criminal intimidation), 324 (mischief), and 3 (general explanations) of the Indian Penal Code, along with the Arms Act of 1959, Criminal Law (Amendment) Act of 2013, and the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951.

Sachin Chikhale, President of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Pimpri Chinchwad City, was informed of the incident and visited the scene to review the damages, assisting both the police and the affected residents.

According to police reports, the accused, who are cousins, came to Nigdi for a birthday party. After becoming intoxicated, they lost control. The complainant and his friend, Akbar Shaikh, were chatting outside their residence when the accused approached them, abused them, and threatened them with a koyta (a type of weapon). They assaulted the complainant and his friend with the blunt side of the weapon and forcibly took ₹1,000 from their pockets.

The accused then brandished the koyta and a machete to spread fear, threatened local residents, and vandalized various vehicles, including a school bus, a tempo, cars, and auto rickshaws. The total damage is estimated at around ₹2 lakh.

The trio fled on a bike but was intercepted by Khadki Police for drunk driving. They were detained, and the case was subsequently transferred to Nigdi Police. Police Sub-Inspector Devare from Nigdi Police Station is investigating the matter further.
