Pune Road Rage: Woman Raises Alarm Over Brutal Attack and Police Inaction

Vishrantwadi, 5th August 2024: Anu Sharma, a resident of Pune, has voiced serious concerns about the city’s law and order after her son, Dhruv, was violently attacked by a group of individuals in Dhanori. The incident, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, began with a minor traffic altercation but quickly escalated into a brutal assault.

According to Sharma, the attackers forced their way into their residential society and severely beat her son. They also issued explicit threats to her life and made horrifying threats of gang rape.

“It is distressing to see such blatant disregard for the law,” Anu Sharma said. “My son was viciously attacked by three adults, which raises serious questions about the safety of our city.”

Sharma also expressed frustration over the police’s handling of the incident. “Despite the seriousness of the crime, including the forced entry into a residential area, the police are hesitant to file a proper FIR. Additionally, the language barrier has made it difficult to communicate effectively with the authorities,” she explained.

Anu Sharma is demanding a thorough investigation, the arrest of the assailants, and strict action against those responsible. She also calls for improved police response and greater sensitivity to the needs of non-native language speakers.

However, Vishrantwadi police station has registered a non-cognisable (NC) complaint, but Sharma’s family is pressing for a formal FIR and a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.
