Shivajinagar, 3rd August 2024: The continuous release of water from the Khadakwasla dam has resulted in a significant rise in water levels in the Deccan area by Saturday evening. As a safety measure, electricity supply to approximately 100 consumers in Pulachi Wadi and Premnagar has been shut off to ensure power security. Similarly, in Ektangari on Sinhagad Road, the electricity supply to 15 consumers was disconnected due to floodwaters entering two societies.

In response to the situation, Pune and PMRDA fire brigades have been actively deployed across various vulnerable areas including Ekta Nagri, Sarita Nagri, Deccan Riverside, Erandwane, Khilarewadi, Dattawadi, and Vishrantwadi. Equipped with essential rescue materials such as torches, ropes, life jackets, life rings, megaphones, and boats, the fire brigades are on high alert. They are continuously providing instructions and safety warnings to residents through megaphones to ensure everyone remains informed and safe during this period of increased water discharge and potential flooding.

The situation is being closely monitored, and authorities are prepared to take further action if necessary to safeguard the residents and property in the affected areas, informed Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale.
