Kharadi, 3rd August 2024: The residents of Kharadi have raised urgent concerns over the deteriorating condition of Dhole Patil Farm and Blue Berry Roads. The stretch between Urban Nirvana Society, Blue Berry Society, Alcon Society, Mio Palazzo Society, Gulmohar Queenstown, Forest County, and Grecia is plagued by numerous potholes, making daily commuting hazardous.

The issue stems from ongoing pipeline and roadwork that has been incomplete for over a year. The potholes vary in size, with some being so large and deep that they pose a significant risk of accidents and vehicle damage. The situation is particularly dangerous for two-wheeler riders, who face the risk of skidding and sustaining severe injuries or even fatalities. Additionally, school children suffer through bumpy rides, increasing the chances of injury.

Exacerbating the problem is a small patch of land at the Blue Berry Junction, which is blocked by an alleged resident claiming ownership. This blockage causes significant traffic congestion, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.

Kharadi has emerged as a major IT hub over the past 10-15 years, with over 50,000 people commuting to their offices daily. The poor condition of the roads poses a severe threat to these commuters. Despite paying substantial property taxes, ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 18,000 annually per unit, residents feel they are not receiving basic amenities in return.

The residents urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate action to repair the roads and ensure safe and smooth commuting. The current state of neglect and abandonment is unacceptable, especially given the high taxes paid by the citizens.
