Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Detain Four Bangladeshi Nationals with Fake Documents

Pimpri Chinchwad, 2nd August 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested four Bangladeshi nationals for living illegally in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad with fake documents. The suspects were found to have obtained counterfeit birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and even passports. The Sangvi police took action after discovering these individuals during a verification process.

The arrested individuals are Sagor Sushanto Biswas (26), Debroto Voben Biswas (26), Johnny Voben Biswas (27), and Roni Anup Sikdar (28), all originally from Bangladesh.

They face charges under sections 318 (cheating), 336 (forgery), 340 (using forged documents as genuine), and 3 (general explanations) of the BNS Act, as well as relevant sections of the Foreigners Act of 1946, the Passports Act of 1967, and The Passport (Entry into India) Act of 1920.

The arrest unfolded when Sagor Biswas visited the Sangvi Police Station for passport verification. A police officer became suspicious when the provided address did not match his residence, and the submitted birth and transfer certificates were found to be fake. This led to further investigation, resulting in the arrest of the other three suspects in Pune Camp and Pimpri-Chinchwad. It has been revealed that all four had been residing in India without visas for several years after entering illegally from Bangladesh.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Swapna Gore, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Pimpri Division) Sachin Hire. Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode led the team, which included Police Sub-Inspector Kiran Kanse and Police Constables Tushar Salunke, Vijay More, and Jitendra Bawaskar from Sangvi Police Station, along with officers from the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
