Pune: Notorious History-Sheeter and Seven Others Arrested for Fatal Attack in Bhosari
Bhosari MIDC, 2nd August 2024: A notorious history-sheeter and seven accomplices have been arrested following a fatal attack on a man who had demanded his money back. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police tracked down and detained the suspects after they initially absconded. Three of the accused were arrested earlier, while five more were apprehended recently, totaling eight arrests. The incident occurred on 20th June in Sector 12, Bhosari MIDC, around 10:10 PM.
The victim has been identified as Fahim Shaikh from Jadhavwadi, Chikhali. His friend, Vishal Gautam of Khande Wasti, filed a complaint with the MIDC Bhosari Police Station.
According to police reports, on June 20th, Shaikh and Gautam were en route home when they were intercepted by the accused, who were on motorcycles. The assailants reportedly said, “Why do you always demand money back? You torment us. We won’t let you go; we’ll kill you,” before attacking Shaikh with an iron rod. Both Shaikh and Gautam were assaulted, with Shaikh being punched and kicked, while Gautam was abused.
Following the registration of the case at MIDC Bhosari Police Station, the police swiftly arrested Vivek aka Sonya Vinod Naik (20) and Saurabh Kaniphnath Bhopale (20), both from Khande Wasti, Bhosari, along with a minor. However, the main culprits remained at large and moved between various locations to evade capture. Through technical investigation, their whereabouts were discovered on 31st July.
On 1st August, the police set a trap and arrested Suraj Prakash Randive (30, from Chikhali), Atharva Uday Pakale (20, from Bhosari), Pratik Dnyaneshwar Safkal (28, from Wakad), Chepya aka Ketan Gautam Sonawane (26, from Pimpri), and Lucky aka Lakhan aka Sunil Rambhau Pawar (24, from Wakad). Three motorcycles used in the crime were confiscated and are now in police custody.
Suraj Prakash Randive is known for his criminal record, including charges of murder and violent assault registered at Khed, Chinchwad, and Nigdi Police Stations. Assistant Police Inspector Kiran Pathare from MIDC Bhosari Police Station is investigating the case further.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (MIDC Bhosari Division) Sachin Hire. The team included Senior Police Inspector Ganesh Jamdar, and under his leadership, Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra Pansare, and Police Constables Chandrakant Gawari, Sharad Gandhile, Raju Jadhav, Sanjay Jare, Swapnil Shelar, Ganesh Borhade, Rahul Lokhande, Jeevan Birajdar, Praveen Muluk, Nitin Khese, Vishal Kale, Bhagwat Shep, Anand Jadhav, Akshay Kshirsagar, and Aniket Kamble.
