Odisha Government Suspends DIG-Ranked Officer Over Misconduct Allegations

Bhubaneswar, 31st July 2024: On Tuesday, the Odisha government suspended a DIG-ranked IPS officer following allegations of misconduct involving a woman inspector and her family at her official residence in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s office, “There were allegations that Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao misused his position.”

The Director General of Police (DGP) submitted a confidential report to the Chief Minister’s Office regarding the 51-year-old officer, who is assigned to the fire services and home guards department.

A home department order indicated that “disciplinary proceedings are being considered due to severe misconduct by the IPS officer.”

Although the inspector did not file an official complaint against Pandit, a police vehicle was dispatched to her residence after reports of a disturbance. Pandit has been instructed to report to the police headquarters.

Efforts to contact Pandit, the woman officer, and her family have not been successful.
