Pune, 31st July 2024: Due to the rapid increase in water levels at Panshet Dam and heavy rainfall in the catchment area, water discharge rates have been significantly increased. As of 8:00 am today, the release from Panshet Dam has been raised to 6,693 cusecs through the spillway, with an additional 600 cusecs through the powerhouse, totaling 7,293 cusecs.

Sub Divisional Engineer of the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-division Pune stated, “We have increased the discharge rate due to the rapid rise in water levels and heavy rainfall. However, the discharge rate may be adjusted depending on the rain and water inflow. We urge everyone to stay out of the riverbed and move any animals or materials from the area immediately.”

In a related update, the Khadakwasla Dam will increase its discharge into the Mutha River basin from 11,704 cusecs to 13,981 cusecs at 9:00 am. This adjustment was made to manage the increased water levels due to continuous rainfall.

The Sub Divisional Engineer further emphasized, “The discharge rates may be increased or decreased depending on ongoing rainfall and water levels. Residents and visitors should remain vigilant and avoid entering the riverbed to ensure their safety.”

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will make necessary adjustments to the water discharge rates as required. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest information and adhere to safety guidelines.
