Thergaon, 30th July 2024: Manik Yerankar (age 45, resident of Pawar Chal, Thergaon) died of electrocution while parking his two-wheeler on the footpath at Thergaon Gaonthan on Monday, 29th July, at around 9:30 pm. However, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has claimed that the accident did not occur due to their electrical system.

On Monday night, Yerankar was parking his two-wheeler beside a street light, and an electrical accident likely occurred when a current from an underground power line got into an iron stand. MSEDCL employees visited the spot immediately after the incident and disconnected the power supply from the concerned feeder pillar. Despite this, officials from MSEDCL reported that the two-wheeler still carried an electric current.

Meanwhile, Ganeshkhind Sub Division Superintending Engineer Sinhajirao Gaikwad and Pimpri Division Executive Engineer Somnath Munde, along with other concerned engineers, inspected the incident site this morning. It was found that the underground power line causing the accident was not related to MSEDCL. Therefore, it appears that this accident was not caused by MSEDCL’s power system. The Chief Electrical Inspector’s office has been informed about this by MSEDCL. The electrical accident is being investigated separately by the Electrical Inspector.
