Pune, 29th July 2024: A restaurant in Bengal is gaining popularity for its innovative approach where robots, not waiters, serve food. Named ‘Ananya,’ these robots also assist in cleaning and managing the counter, leaving diners astonished. This futuristic technology is currently being utilized in a restaurant near National Highway 12, connecting the southern and northern parts of West Bengal. The restaurant, which resembles an ordinary village house, offers a unique dining experience by serving various dishes with the help of robots.

Food is brought from the kitchen to the table not by a human but by the robot Ananya. Painted white and standing five feet tall, Ananya has a rectangular ‘face’ that functions as a sensor-driven digital screen. It gently says to anyone in its way, “Please let me pass. Do not stand in my way and let me serve.” This robot helps kitchen staff deliver ‘ordered’ food to customers sitting at tables. Ananya has wheels and four ‘shelves’ to carry food, but no hands. A staff member waiting at the table takes the food from the tray and serves it to the customer.

Shubhankar Mandal, the manager of the restaurant named Mothers Hut, explained, “We have four robots named Ananya. These robots take care of everything, from cleaning the house to cooking, from managing the cash counter to helping at the reception desk.” This has made Ananya a center of attraction for visitors.

According to PTI, the restaurant is located near Krishnanagar in Nadia district, about 120 km from Kolkata. Alankriti Roy, a 10-year-old visiting from Kolkata with her family, was thrilled to see the robot serving food. A fourth-grade student originally from Muscat, she shared her excitement, “It’s amazing. I even took a selfie with the robot.”

This unique dining experience has left a lasting impression on customers, combining traditional hospitality with cutting-edge technology.
