Lonavala, 29th July 2024: Lonavala Police Station, Pune rural police, has registered cases against 26 tourists who endangered their lives by ‘enjoying’ in the waterfall area of Sahara Bridge. Recently, an incident occurred where five members of the same family were swept away by the overflowing water of the Bhushi Dam. Tourists from various parts of Maharashtra, including Pune and Mumbai, visit Lonavala on a big scale during the rainy season. Many risk their safety, and photographs are often taken with mobile cameras in these hazardous areas.

Pune District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase has directed the police to take action against tourists who endanger their lives by disregarding safety warnings. Prohibitory orders have been imposed at tourist spots in the district, including Lonavala and Khandala. On Sunday, Lonavala police registered cases against 26 tourists from four different groups who were violating the orders by rioting in the waterfall area in front of Sahara Bridge.

The action was taken under the guidance of Pune rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh.

Police Inspector Suhas Jagtap is investigating the matter. Police Constables Hanumant Shinde and Raees Mulani filed separate complaints.
