Pune, 29th July 2024: Employees of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) have been on strike since Monday, demanding the resolution of long-standing issues. The protest has led to an unexpected unavailability of PMPML vehicles, causing significant disruptions for thousands of passengers. Approximately 1.2 million people in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad rely on PMPML services.

An action committee, chaired by Shiv Sena’s Pune City Chief Nana Bhangire, has been established to address the employees’ demands. The committee is calling for timely payment of arrears from the 7th Pay Commission, retention of daily wage workers who have served for six years, and regular promotions for employees. The strike, which began at midnight on Monday, has affected students and workers.
