Pune: Water Discharge Expected From Varasgaon Dam As Reservoir Now 80% Full

Pune, 28th July 2024: Heavy rains have been reported in the catchment area of Varasgaon Dam, causing the reservoir to fill up to 80% of its capacity as of 4:00 PM today. With the continuing rainfall, there is a high likelihood that water will be released from the dam’s spillway if the inflow persists, informed Shweta Kurhade, Executive Engineer of Khadakwasla irrigation department.

Residents living along the riverbanks have been advised to avoid entering the river. Those with agricultural pumps, tools, or livestock near the river should move them to safer locations immediately. Authorities have also urged citizens in low-lying areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
