Pune, 26th July 2024: Tata Motors is set to launch its CNG variant of the Tata Nexon in September 2024, directly challenging Maruti’s Brezza, the only compact SUV currently offering CNG technology in the Indian market. The new Nexon CNG will feature dual-cylinder technology, which maximizes boot space and will be powered by a 1.2-liter Revotron engine. This launch aims to cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles and provide more options for compact SUV buyers.

Tata Motors, a leading vehicle manufacturer in India, is gearing up to introduce the CNG variant of the Tata Nexon, expected to hit the market in September. While the company has not officially announced the launch date, media reports suggest it will coincide with the festive season.

The standout feature of the Nexon CNG is its dual-cylinder technology, designed to optimize boot space. Tata Motors first showcased this technology at the Auto Expo in January 2023 and later at India Mobility in February 2024. This innovative feature addresses one of the common drawbacks of CNG vehicles, ensuring ample luggage space for users.

Under the hood, the Tata Nexon CNG will house a 1.2-liter Revotron engine, capable of producing 73.5 PS of power and 103 Nm of torque. The vehicle is also expected to come with a six-speed gearbox and a CNG start feature, enhancing its overall performance and convenience.

Currently, Maruti Brezza is the sole contender in the compact SUV segment with CNG technology. The launch of Tata Nexon CNG will provide a significant alternative for buyers, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape.

Pricing details suggest that the CNG variant of the Nexon will be priced higher than its petrol counterpart. The petrol variant starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹7.99 lakh. The CNG variant, expected to be available in the Pure and Creative variants, may see a price increase of ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 over the petrol version.

The introduction of Tata Nexon CNG reflects Tata Motors’ commitment to expanding its eco-friendly vehicle lineup and providing consumers with more choices in the compact SUV segment.
