Pimpri Chinchwad, 26th July 2024: The turbidity of river water has increased due to heavy rainfall in the Pavana Dam area. As a result, the water supply in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been disrupted due to technical difficulties, causing delays in purifying the water.

The heavy rain in the Pavana Dam area has led to an increase in the turbidity of the river water, resulting in technical difficulties. The elevated water tanks that supply water are not yet full, and tank filling is still in progress. Therefore, water supply to all parts of the city will be delayed, at low pressure, and will last for a short time for some days. The Water Supply Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has stated that efforts to restore normal water supply are ongoing at a rapid pace.

Given the current rainy season, there is a high possibility of waterborne diseases spreading through drinking water. Therefore, the risk to citizens’ health cannot be ruled out. PCMC is taking necessary precautions to provide clean and pure water to the citizens. However, as a precautionary measure, citizens should clean the underground and above-ground water tanks in their buildings and keep the area around the water tank clean. For health safety, drinking water for domestic use should be boiled and filtered. PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh has appealed to citizens to take these measures to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
