Pune District Collector Orders Closure of Tourist Spots For 48 Hours Amid Heavy Rainfall

Pune, 25th July 2024: In light of the severe weather conditions and heavy rainfall forecast for the region, Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has ordered the closure of all tourist places for the next 48 hours. This decision follows a thorough review of the situation in consultation with the Sub Divisional Officer and Tehsildar.

Dr. Diwase has activated the district disaster management system and instructed relief and rescue teams to be on high alert. Additionally, he has directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to implement necessary precautionary measures in riverside areas to ensure public safety.

Key Directives Issued by the Collector:

1. Closure of Tourist Places: All tourist spots in the district will remain closed for 48 hours to prevent any mishaps due to the adverse weather conditions.

2. Ban on Dangerous Areas: Tourists are strictly prohibited from visiting dangerous tourist places, hazardous streams, and drains.

3. Traffic Restrictions: Bridges deemed dangerous will be closed for traffic to avoid any accidents.

These measures aim to safeguard residents and visitors as heavy rains continue to lash the district. The administration has urged the public to cooperate with these directives and avoid venturing into risky areas during this period.
