Maval, 24th July 2024: Tourists planning to visit Maval and Mulshi talukas in Pune district, Maharashtra, are being urged to reconsider their travel plans following severe rainfall in the region over the past two days. The continuous downpour has caused a significant rise in water levels in both dam areas and riverbeds, making several popular tourist spots hazardous.

Surendra Navale, the Sub Divisional Officer for Maval and Mulshi, issued a warning advising visitors to avoid Lonavala’s Bhushi Dam area, Lions Point, as well as Pavana Dam, Kundmala area, and other potentially dangerous locations in Mulshi taluka. The heavy rains have increased the risk of flooding and landslides, making these areas particularly unsafe.

“Given the current weather conditions, we strongly recommend that tourists avoid visiting these sites,” Navale stated. “The elevated water levels pose significant risks, and it is essential for everyone’s safety to steer clear of these areas until conditions improve.”

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. In the meantime, visitors are encouraged to check weather forecasts and travel advisories before planning their trips.
