Pune Rural Police’s Swift Operation Yields Arrest and Recovery in Rs 50 Lakh Kedgaon Robbery

Pune, 24th July 2024: In a swift and efficient operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Yawat Police Station under Pune rural police successfully solved a robbery case in Kedgaon Chaufula within 12 hours, arresting one accused and recovering Rs 45 lakh.

According to the FIR registered with Yawat police station, the incident occurred on the night of 23rd July 2024. Complainant Sharad Madhukar Dange, 76, a resident of Buldhana district, was dining at Raghunandan Hotel, Chaufula Kedgaon, with his daughter-in-law and family around 9 pm. Bandu alias Gajanan Kalwaghe, who was accompanying them, threatened Dange with a knife and demanded a bag containing Rs 50 lakh, which Dange had received from a land transaction. Kalwaghe then fled with the cash.

Upon receiving the information, a team from the local crime branch and Yawat police station immediately visited the scene. During the investigation, it was revealed that the father of Dange’s daughter-in-law owned land in the village of Indi in Karnataka. Bandu alias Gajanan Kalwaghe had arranged the land transaction with Virabhadra Katti of Indi, Karnataka.

An advance payment of Rs 50 lakh was made for the 18-acre land transaction. Dange, his daughter-in-law, and Kalwaghe, who is also from Dange’s village, were traveling from Indi to Pune in a four-wheeler when the incident occurred when they stopped for dinner.

Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh stated, “After receiving the information, our teams laid a trap and nabbed Bandu at Nhavra Fata. We have recovered Rs 45 lakh in cash from him.”

The accused has been arrested and will be presented before the court.

The investigation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent of Police (Baramati Division) Sanjay Jadhav and SDPO (Daund) Annasaheb Gholap.
