Pimpri Chinchwad, 22nd July 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police arrested illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from the Nigdi area. When they were produced in court, they presented fake land papers, which have now come to light. This revelation has uncovered a larger scam involving multiple people connected to this incident. The court has directed the police to register a case against the lawyers involved.

The Nigdi Police had arrested five Bangladeshi immigrants. For their bail, a local citizen was needed as surety. However, the lawyer and other accused used the Aadhaar card of Rahul Bansode (age 34, resident of Landewadi, Bhosari) without his presence as surety to secure bail for the accused. In this process, they deceived the First Class Magistrate of Pimpri Court along with Bansode.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested 19 Bangladeshi immigrants this year. All these Bangladeshis were found in possession of fake Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, school leaving certificates, and other documents. Many illegal immigrants from Bangladesh create fake documents after arriving in West Bengal. When Nigdi Police arrested the five Bangladeshis, it was discovered that 66 Bangladeshis had been making fake documents in Pune and Goa. This raises the question of how illegal immigrants obtained documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports, which common citizens struggle to acquire. The police are searching for those who assisted them.

Pimpri Chinchwad, being an industrial city, attracts thousands of people from various states in India who come here in search of jobs. These people work in areas like Bhosari, Chikhali, and Chakan. Along with them, Bangladeshi immigrants, who enter the country illegally, also come to these twin cities. These immigrants first come to West Bengal. After making fake documents for a mere sum of around Rs 2,000, they travel all over the country, ‘holding their heads high.’ With primary documents, they proceed to obtain other documents like licenses, ration cards, gas connections, voter ID cards, etc. However, the people who help them make these documents are rarely arrested, although the police often crack down on illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.

In the Shanti Nagar area of Bhosari, on 25th May, Pimpri Chinchwad ATS arrested five Bangladeshi citizens. One of the accused had even voted in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections from the Shirur Constituency on 13th May. He had also voted in the 2019 Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. Additionally, he had used his Indian passport to make international trips, primarily back to Bangladesh. Following this incident, the ATS also arrested six individuals from Moshi in Pimpri Chinchwad, who were also found with fake documents. The scandal involving these Bangladeshi immigrants is being thoroughly investigated by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode said, “For providing fake bail documents in Pimpri court, a case has been registered against all the accused, including the lawyer. If any group is involved in these activities, we are investigating.”
