Pune, 22nd July 2024: French automaker Citroen has released a teaser for its upcoming SUV, the Basalt, ahead of its scheduled launch on August 2, 2024. The teaser reveals several key features of the SUV, marking Citroen’s expansion in the Indian market. The Basalt will be the company’s fourth product offering in India, positioned between the C3 Aircross and the C5 Aircross. This move aims to strengthen Citroen’s presence in the growing SUV segment.

The new 30-second teaser primarily showcases the interior of the Basalt, highlighting advanced features. According to the teaser, the SUV will include a 10.2-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, C-shaped AC vents, leatherette seats, automatic climate control, toggle switches, and a rotary dial. These features are expected to provide a blend of comfort and convenience for passengers.

Under the hood, the Citroen Basalt is anticipated to house a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, similar to other models in Citroen’s lineup. Additionally, a turbo engine option is likely, delivering 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque for the manual variant. The six-speed automatic transmission variant is expected to produce 110 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque, enhancing the driving experience.

The Citroen Basalt’s launch positions it as a competitor in the coupe SUV segment, a relatively untapped market in India. Its primary rival will be the Tata Curvv, set to launch on August 7, 2024. The competition between these models is expected to intensify, offering consumers more choices in the SUV segment.

The Basalt’s pricing is anticipated to range between ₹10 to ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom), although the exact figures will be disclosed at the time of launch. Citroen’s strategic positioning of the Basalt aims to attract a broad customer base, leveraging its advanced features and competitive pricing.
