Pune, 20th July 2024: The stalled process of admissions to the 25% reserved seats under the Right to Education Act (RTE) has resumed following an order from the Bombay High Court. The selection list and waiting list of students for admission have been announced. Starting Monday, 22nd July, short messages regarding admission will be sent to parents. Parents who receive these messages can visit the verification committee from 23rd July to 31st July to confirm their child’s admission by verifying the necessary documents.

Underprivileged and socially and economically weaker section students are admitted to private schools on 25% reserved seats under RTE. This year, changes in the rules for RTE admissions by the Ministry of School Education caused confusion, leading to a petition in the Bombay High Court and stalling the admission process. As a result, despite July being half over, the admission process had not started. Parents and students have been closely monitoring the RTE admission process. However, the Bombay High Court ruled that the changes made by the Ministry of School Education in RTE admissions are unconstitutional, thus clearing the way for admissions to reserved seats in private schools.
