Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th July 2024: The Khedkar family’s challenges are set to escalate with the revelation that their company, ThermoVerita, is unauthorized. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has already ordered the sealing of the company due to a tax default of Rs 2.77 lakh. It has now come to light that the company is situated in a red zone, confirming its unauthorized status.

PCMC has initiated action against ThermoVerita, marking a significant increase in the Khedkars’ problems. Notably, controversial IAS officer Puja Khedkar had used ThermoVerita’s address to obtain a disability certificate. Additional Commissioner of PCMC, Pradeep Jambhale, provided information on this matter.

“Upon reviewing the records, it was found that tax payments have been made since 2009, with the last payment in 2022. The outstanding tax amounts to approximately Rs 2.77 lakh. Consequently, property confiscation procedures have been initiated under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act. Action will be taken in accordance with the rules,” said Jambhale.

He further stated, “The area where the company is located falls in the red zone, rendering all companies in that area unauthorized. As per the rules, a one-month notice is given to the concerned owners of unauthorized buildings before taking appropriate action.”

Trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, embroiled in controversy, had obtained a disability certificate from the Central Disability Department using ThermoVerita’s address instead of her residential address. This raises questions about the future of the company, which is already in trouble for unpaid taxes.

PCMC has ordered the sealing of ThermoVerita due to tax arrears of Rs 2.77 lakh. With the company now confirmed as unauthorized, further action is imminent.
