Pune: Caretaker Arrested by Wakad Police for Fraudulently Claiming Ownership of Land in Rahatani

Rahatani, 16th July 2024: A man was entrusted with the responsibility of caring for a piece of land in Pimpri Chinchwad. However, he illegally seized the land from its owner. On the 10 Gunthas of land, he put up a board indicating the land belonged to him. Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested one person in this case. The incident occurred from December 2021 to March 2024 in Rahatani.

Anand Shrinivas Hirekatur (age 53, resident of Pashan Road) filed a complaint at Wakad Police Station. The Wakad Police have arrested Suresh Shankar Junawane (age 52, resident of Aundh) and registered a case under IPC Sections 447, 406, 420, 465, 467, 468, and 471.

According to police reports, the complainant received the 10 Gunthas of land from his father-in-law. He appointed Junawane as its caretaker. However, Junawane violated the trust and misused his position. He made false documents with forged signatures and showed the land as being in his name. He then illegally seized the land and put up a board claiming ownership. The police have arrested the accused, and Senior Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar from Wakad Police Station is investigating the matter further.
