Pune: 16-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide After Party in Yerawada; Another Teen Hospitalized

Yerawada, 16th July 2024: A 16-year-old girl in Pune had a party with her friend at her home in the Yerawada area. After the party, in a shocking incident, she died by suicide by hanging herself. The friend at the party was found unconscious and is being treated at Sassoon General Hospital. The reason for the suicide is not yet clear, and Yerawada Police have started an investigation.

Tanisha Shantaram Manore (age 16) has been identified as the deceased. Another 16-year-old girl was found unconscious due to excessive alcohol consumption at the party and is undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital. A case of Accidental Death (AD) has been registered at the Yerawada Police Station.

Tanisha lived in the Laxmi Nagar area of Yerawada and was in the 11th standard. Her mother used to sell vegetables. Yesterday, Tanisha and her friend had a party at Tanisha’s home. Tanisha’s friend called a boy living in the neighbourhood and invited him to Tanisha’s house around 8 PM. He came near the house and looked inside through the door when he found Tanisha in a hanged state. He took her down and sprinkled water on her face to try to revive her. He informed Tanisha’s mother, and Tanisha was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Tanisha’s friend was also found unconscious. Attempts were made to wake her up, and it was noticed that she was drunk. Her parents admitted her to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. Yerawada Police rushed to the spot as soon as they got the information about the incident. When the police inspected the scene, it was revealed that Tanisha and her friends had a drunken party. The police said that both of them vomited after the alcohol party. The reason why Tanisha committed suicide and the exact time she hanged herself is still unknown. The investigation is ongoing under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Kumar Shelke.
